About
For the love of people, flowers, paint, and probably one more art supply that absolutely did not need to come home with me from the store.
I’m Devyn Larson, an intuitive artist and teacher based in Portland, Oregon, where moody skies and mossy trees make excellent companions for colorful paint palettes. My expressive, joy-filled work celebrates everyday beauty, human connection, and the magic tucked inside ordinary moments throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Watercolor was my first artistic love, but I am happily noncommittal when it comes to materials. Acrylics, Procreate, mixed media, mystery pens found at the bottom of a tote bag—if it makes marks, I’m in!
With a Masters in Arts & Teaching and more than 20 years in the classroom as both a teacher and STEM educator, creativity has become less of a hobby and more of a survival strategy. Between full-time work and everyday life, making art happens whenever and wherever possible: in parked cars, at the kitchen counter, and during those slightly unhinged late-night studio sessions that begin with “just one quick thing.”
As a guest teaching artist for Amanda Evanston’s Insiders Studio and the Chicken Coup Art Club, I’ve found deep joy in being part of a vibrant global art community filled with curious, creative humans of all ages. Closer to home, I’ve served as a juror for Portland Audubon’s Wild Arts Festival, taught at local events, and can often be found participating in creative markets, art walks, and community gatherings with paint on my hands and at least one uncapped pen nearby.
